Southam Rugby Secures £100,000 HS2 Funding

Southam Rugby Secures £100,000 HS2 Funding

Tony Porter

Major boost from the HS2 Community & Environment Fund

We are delighted to announce that Southam Rugby Union Football Club has secured £100,000 from HS2's Community and Environment Fund (CEF) to support the next stage of development at the Club.

The funding will support two important projects: the creation of a new covered veranda, providing additional sheltered community space, and the replacement of the Club's Klargester system, providing reliable infrastructure to support our growing Club and wider community into the future.

Building for the Future

The investment represents an important step in our plans to strengthen and future-proof Southam RUFC as both a sporting facility and a community asset.

The new covered veranda will provide a safe, comfortable and weather-protected space for members, families, spectators, volunteers and wider community users to gather throughout the year.

Alongside this, replacing the existing Klargester system will provide the infrastructure needed to support increasing use of the Club and its facilities, helping ensure we are equipped for continued growth in the years ahead.

A Club for Our Community

The project has been shaped by feedback from our members and wider community and forms part of our longer-term ambition to develop Southam RUFC as a welcoming, accessible and inclusive place where people can participate, connect and come together.

As the project progresses, we will continue to involve our members and community through questionnaires, feedback, our new Community User Panel and other opportunities to share views and experiences.

This is your Club, for our community, and we want you to be part of the journey.

Our project has received a £100,000 grant from HS2's Community and Environment Fund (CEF). The CEF fund has been created by HS2 to add benefit to communities along the route that are demonstrably disrupted by the construction of HS2.

The administration of these funds is managed on behalf of HS2 Ltd by the community charity, Groundwork UK. Further information about the funding programme is available through the HS2 Community and Business Funds website - HS2 Community and Business Funds.

Securing this award is a significant milestone for Southam RUFC, and we would like to thank everyone who has contributed to getting us to this point.

We look forward to sharing regular updates as the project develops and, most importantly, continuing to work with our members and wider community as we build for the future — together.
